Bagus Botanicals Kratom Vendor Review – Bogus or Bonafide?

With the demand for kratom growing exponentially over each year, it’s really any vendor’s game. So although there are some tried, tested, and trusted kratom brands out there, rookies can still find their place in the grand scheme of things with a good marketing strategy and quality products.

That’s why, despite all the odds, Bagus Botanicals seems to have wiggled its way into the big leagues even after just four years on the market. What started as a personal encounter with kratom has since blossomed into a full-time operation offering customers what they call high-quality, ethically sourced, always fresh kratom that’s good for buyers and the farmers that make them.

Bagus Botanicals – Who Are They?

Bagus Botanicals presents itself as a kratom company built around ethical sourcing, sustainability, and product quality. Its name comes from the Indonesian word bagus, meaning “good,” which it uses to represent its commitment to ethical practices, community support, and environmental responsibility.

According to its website, the brand was founded in 2022 in Topanga Canyon, California, by Edward and Hannah. Edward reportedly came from the mezcal industry and turned to kratom as an alternative to alcohol, eventually inspiring the couple to establish their own business.

While the decision to start fresh and share their newfound love for kratom was said to have happened some time in 2022, the brand wasn’t officially founded until a year later. Bagus Botanical, Inc. was registered in California on March 15, 2023, and a business-record database identifies David Garcia as its chief executive officer.

The company’s philosophy centers on working directly with Indonesian kratom farmers, supporting sustainable cultivation, and maintaining quality through third-party laboratory testing. To this end, the company says its products are sourced from Borneo and packaged in Topanga Canyon, California, and that unlike other vendors with products that sit in warehouses for up to a year during the production phase, their kratom comes fresh from the source every 6 to 8 weeks.

Bagus Botanicals’ Kratom Selection

Bagus Botanicals has a fairly focused catalog, although it does offer a few options beyond the usual kratom powder and capsules. The company organizes its products around three main strain categories, namely Borneo, Bali, and Maeng Da. They also carry a few specialty products for people looking for something that’s unique to the brand.

Their main product is powdered kratom, with prices being:

  • 50g: $13.99
  • 100g: $23.99
  • 250g: $44.99

That gives buyers a smaller package to try before committing to a larger quantity, although the available sizes and prices can vary between products. It’s also worth noting that the brand does not offer their kratom products in bulk, with their 250g bags being the largest amount they offer.

Another thing worth pointing out is that their products are not cheap. At $44.99 for their biggest bag, buyers are paying $0.17 per gram which doesn’t seem like much, but falls into the steeper side of the price range when compared to other kratom vendors.

For people who would rather skip the loose powder, Bagus also sells kratom capsules, although the selection isn’t quite as broad. At any given time, they’ll offer just one or two strains in capsule form, with a bottle of 88 caps going for $24.99.

Where Bagus gets a little more interesting is with its specialty products. Flow State, starting at $18, combines kratom with lion’s mane and ginseng, moving beyond the traditional single-strain format. The company markets this blend toward focus and productivity, making it one of the more distinctive products in its catalog.

Then there’s The CEO, a bundle currently listed at $79, discounted from $98.95. It includes 50g of Flow State powder, 100g of White Maeng Da powder, and 88-count packages of both Green and White Maeng Da capsules, along with an electric mixer and a wooden measuring spoon.

Finally, Bagus offers a Beginner Sample Pack, listed at $39.99, down from $58. The product page doesn’t clearly specify what’s included in the bundle, but by the pictures posted on the website, it appears to come with a 50g pouch of Green Maeng Da, a 50g pouch of their proprietary Flow State blend, and 88 capsules of White Maeng Da.

Overall, Bagus Botanicals keeps its traditional strain selection relatively streamlined while branching out into functional blends and curated bundles. It doesn’t have the sprawling catalog of some kratom vendors, but there’s enough variety to cover the basics while giving customers a few alternatives to ordinary powder and capsules.

Returns, Refunds, and Shipping Policies at Bagus Botanical

Bagus Botanicals offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, which is the industry standard for customers who aren’t satisfied with their purchases. According to the company’s returns and refunds policy, customers can request a full refund within 30 days of receiving their order, provided the product is unused, remains in its original condition, and is accompanied by proof of purchase.

The return process itself is fairly straightforward. Customers need to email the support team with their order number and reason for returning the product, after which the company provides return instructions and an address. Once the returned item has been received and inspected, approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days through the original payment method.

There are a couple of things worth keeping in mind, though:

  • Customers generally have to cover return shipping costs themselves
  • The original shipping charges are non-refundable
  • Exchanges are also limited to products that arrive defective or damaged, or wrong products sent out by the company

Bagus advertises free standard shipping on orders over $50, while its shipping page lists expedited USPS delivery for an additional $25, with an estimated delivery time of 2–4 days. Orders that don’t reach the $50 free shipping threshold will be charged an extra $5.99 for standard shipping.

The company ships within the United States but does not offer international shipping. It also restricts deliveries to certain states and local jurisdictions where kratom is prohibited, with additional identification verification required for some destinations.

Customer Feedback on Bagus Botanicals

On their own website, Bagus Botanicals has a little over a 100 total reviews distributed across their modest selection. Elsewhere on the web, it’s tough to dig up any consumer generated reviews about the brand.

There are some discussions on Reddit and a handful of third-party articles about Bagus, but the pool of publicly available customer feedback is fairly limited. That makes it difficult to establish whether the experiences described online reflect the company’s overall customer base.

Given what’s available online, however, it’s safe to assume that the company’s products hit the target more often than not. One reviewer on Reddit said that the brand sent them an assortment of products from their line, and that each one was fresh and provided effects that were pretty spot on when compared to how they were described on the website.

Another thing to consider is the lack of negative reviews. While it would be nice to see more feedback to establish the brand’s positive reputation, the absence of any bad ratings can also point to a fairly smooth operation. Distraught customers won’t think twice to leave a bad review, so the fact that Bagus doesn’t have too many proves that they satisfy most of their customers most of the time.

The most scathing feedback the brand has received thus far is published on their website. In the two-star review, the shopper stated that of the three-piece Beginner Sample Pack arrived incomplete. It’s not clear whether the company did anything to resolve the issue.

Bagus Botanicals – The Final Verdict

Despite being fairly new to the market, Bagus Botanicals shows us what good marketing and a curated product line-up can do. They haven’t been around very long, which could explain the small number of customer reviews about them online. But even then, first impressions of Bagus point to a well-managed business that stands by their philosophy.

If you’re looking for fresh kratom, they might be worth a shot. Just keep in mind that you won’t find their virtual shelves stocked with an abundance of options, and that their prices might be a little steeper than what the average buyer might be used to.
